Adventuring in the Arts - Summer Kids Camp 2023
What a Fun Experience for teachers and kids alike! How do you know if what you did went well?
Look at the family’s faces. Look at the parent’s smiles. Look at the excited kids showing off their creations. Look at the amazing art work that was displayed around our fellowship hall and choir room. Feel the energy around the room as the program came to life. Yes, the church was opened up for the week as an “art studio” of music, art, and spirituality. We felt God’s blessings upon all of it.
We certainly learned a lot about 4 specific artists. We learned a lot about adapting art techniques and mediums of art to meet children’s age levels for projects we were planning. We learned a lot on the job to alter and adapt art techniques and ideas to meet age challenges and timing. We learned how to “roll with the punches” to make “all things work to the glory of God.”
As a result, we were blessed….
the campers were blessed…
their families were blessed.
As our opening song for our program expressed:
“I am a Promise. I am a Possibility. I am a promise with a Possibility. I am a great big bundle of Potentiality.”
The idea that we are all are, young and old was also a recurring theme of the week. Our campers made that clear to all and their families enjoyed it all and said “thank you.”
As I write this we cannot even begin to tell or show you all that was given, received, blessed, acknowledged, loved and uplifted throughout our week. God inspired 14 campers to be in our midst. Their families were open to what we had to give. We bonded as a family and lived the week as a family, living through challenges, surprises, blessings, frustrations, questions, revelations, and all the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.
And as only God can do, He brought us all to praise and rejoice in His love as we celebrated together at our closing program and BBQ.
