Joint Venture
The Joint Venture Churches of Almaden Valley, Inc. (JV) is a 50+-year-old loving and caring partnership between The Episcopal Church in Almaden (ECA) and The Congregational Church of Almaden Valley, United Church of Christ (CCAV, UCC). These two churches joined shortly after the founding of each with the belief that cross-denominational partnership offered a way into a future of more cooperation and less competition between Christians. They have shared the facilities, their maintenance, and the land located at 6581 Camden Ave, in San Jose, since it was incorporated in 1972 through legal agreement. The churches have partnered together in many ways over the years, sharing youth programs, music ventures, joint worship opportunities, many fellowship events, and have established many close, long-term relationships.
Independent, yet strongly interconnected
Each church is independent from the other, with their own by-laws, governance structure, funding, and worship services. The Joint Venture Churches’ Board is comprised of an equal number of members from both churches who make decisions pertaining to the facilities and the land. Joint Venture Churches has its own by-laws, governance structure, and funding that is separate from both churches.
Together, the Joint Venture Churches are dedicated to “Work Together as One” on a JV Strategic Plan to build a Church of the Future, focusing on possibilities for serving our communities and building our relationships with each other, our neighbors, and God through partnerships with non-profit organizations.
