Weekly Inspiration (9/1/23)

Quote of the Week

“It is clear that the disciples did not understand the meaning of Jesus' life and death until after the Resurrection. And yet, Jesus chooses to send out these bumbling, slow-to-understand followers, working in and through them to teach, heal, and deliver those in need. In like manner, he chooses us and sends us out to accomplish, by his power, things beyond what we could ask or imagine.”

Poem of the Week

By: Holly McKissick

Generous One,
You are the mystery and wonder
at the heart of life.
If You had just formed us
from your breath and dirt
and put us in the garden
to love and to eat,
it would have been enough.

But You called us
to till and to keep Your creation, too.
You invited us to share in Your creative work.
This day look with favor
upon the world that You have
made and redeemed.
And look with favor upon those of us setting out to do something new.
