Weekly Inspiration (1/13/24)

“We come to know God as love, as light, and as indwelling presence, so that we may become love and light and presence for others. In this season, reflect on how you can come to know God more fully. Pray that you may live and act so that others may know God through you.”

Br. Lain Wilson
Society of Saint John the Evangelist

Reminder: Epiphany Stars are here!

The sanctuary is decorated with a vast array of stars for the Epiphany season. Everyone is invited to consider what star may be calling to you and to select one.  Remember, you can not read the word on the back and return it.  The star and word you select is yours to ponder for 2024.  Consider the word, bring it into your daily life or prayers. Place it on your desk or even your bathroom mirror.  Consider how that word and its various meanings can become part of your life. You are welcome to select one for other family members or friends.

Poem of the Week

"Epiphany"
by Walter Brueggemann

On Epiphany day,
we are still the people walking.
We are still people in the dark,
 and the darkness looms large around us,
 beset as we are by fear,
 anxiety,
 brutality,
 violence,
 loss —
a dozen alienations that we cannot manage.
We are — we could be — people of your light.
So we pray for the light of your glorious presence
 as we wait for your appearing;
we pray for the light of your wondrous grace
 as we exhaust our coping capacity;
we pray for your gift of newness that
 will override our weariness;
we pray that we may see and know and hear and trust
 in your good rule.
That we may have energy, courage, and freedom to enact
your rule through the demands of this day.
We submit our day to you and to your rule, with deep joy and high hope.
