Community updates (3/8/23)

We Need Your Smiling Face!  We need a congregational picture to help finalize our parish profile so it can be completed soon! Please come to church on Sunday (notice Daylight Savings) and we will take a picture in the sanctuary before we go down to coffee hour. We want as many people as can come!

The Transition Team is actively finishing our parish profile this month, it will then go to the vestry for their review and we hope to finalize and post for our new rector applications soon.

Music Director Search Update

The application deadline for the Music Director position closed on March 1 and we have fortunately received three applications. The Search Committee will interview these candidates soon and invite qualified applicants to audition with the choir and on the organ. The committee will then make a recommendation to the Wardens and Vestry.

The committee intends to move the process along expeditiously. Members of the Search Committee are Andy Kerr, Ruthanne Adams Martinez, Kimberly Axtell and Todd Axtell.

A Message from Margaret Allvey:

For all my friends at ECA.

The last couple of years has been a very difficult time for me healthwise, and then the loss of my good friend Tom, and also my grandson Paul.  Add all that to the Covid problem and we decided that the time had come for me to sell my lovely home in The Villages where I had lived for nearly 20 years and move to Livermore to be nearer to my son and his wife. No sooner said than done…..my home sold so quickly, just by word of mouth and I was on my way!

My time with ECA was very rewarding and I remember with pleasure the many friends I met there.

I would like to say a sincere ‘goodbye’ to you all and if you are in the Livermore area….it’s full of beautiful vineyards, please do contact me and call in and say hello.

I hope your search for a new Rector goes well, there certainly are a lot of changes for ECA over the next year.

God bless, sincerely,  Margaret Allvey

Roses
Dennis Widman has seen to the upkeep of the JV Rose Garden for many years, and he has finally decided to step down from this responsibility.  The JV Board is looking at options for this, but we are asking for at least one volunteer from both churches to be on a “Rose Committee” to oversee the upkeep.  These are not necessarily people who will be doing the work, but they are people who will see that it is getting done.  If you are interested in being a part of this committee, please let Steve Wing know. Thank you!

And thanks to Dennis for his MANY MANY years of service to our Rose Garden. It is thriving under his care, and many of us have enjoyed it over the years.

ECA and UCC have joined together to help feed our community as Joint Venture.

The odd months we will donate food to Santa Maria Urban Mission and on the even months, we will donate to Mary Lou’s Pantry here in Almaden Valley.

Please continue to place non-perishable foods in the bin at Church and at the end of the month the food will be distributed to SMUM in the odd months and Mary Lou’s Pantry in the even months.

Thank you for your continued generosity.
