Community updates (3/17/23)

* * AFTERNOON SOCIAL * *

When: Thursday, March 23, 2023

Time: 4pm to 6pm

Where: ECA Fellowship Hall

Bring: snacks to share

It's finally here!  You asked, and we heard you!  Starting this month, we will be having a once-a-month social gathering so that we can come and relax, eat, and just be together.  You do not need to RSVP, and it's does not cost any money.  You do not have to dress up, unless you want to, and if you are coming from work and don't have time to bring a snack, just come on by anyway!  We would love to see you!

Starting in April the Afternoon Social will be on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 4pm to 6pm. We will need “Hosts” for each gathering. Now don't get scared--“hosting” just means you need to unlock/lockup the church.  That reminds me, we will likely only have the fellowship hall doors opened, NOT the front door, so drive on around the back and come on inside!  When the weather gets better, we may even BBQ!

We already have some people signed up, so grab a spot while you still can.

Drivers Needed  Hi All.  A few months ago I asked for those willing to provide rides for our congregation to be part of a driver pool.  Sometimes it’s a ride to or from church events, sometimes it’s a need to pick up meds or groceries, or get to appointments.  It’s not a commitment to always be available, but is a tangible sharing of love.  Please let me know if I can call on you. Please leave a message for Pat McGarvin in our Contact Us portal if you are willing and able to help out here.

-Thanks, Pat

Here is a direct link to our weekly “An Episcopal Sermon” podcast.

Each weekly podcast episode is a live recording of the Gospel reading followed by the sermon based on that reading from our Sunday services. A new episode is posted on our website every Monday (in case you missed it on Sunday). This podcast provides thought provoking messages that can be listened to anywhere at any time.

Enjoy!

New ‘Susie’s Book Nook’ YouTube Episode Live!

This week's book reviewed by Susie on YouTube is: Grandad’s Prayers of the Earth by Douglas Wood and illustrated by P.J. Lynch

If you know of any parents looking for some great books to introduce to their children and/or teens around the subjects of Creation Care and Social Justice, please send them this link and let them know about Susie’s Book Nook on our YouTube channel. She provides many great book recommendations!

ECA and UCC have joined together to help feed our community as Joint Venture.

The odd months we will donate food to Santa Maria Urban Mission and on the even months, we will donate to Mary Lou’s Pantry here in Almaden Valley.

Please continue to place non-perishable foods in the bin at Church and at the end of the month the food will be distributed to SMUM in the odd months and Mary Lou’s Pantry in the even months.

Thank you for your continued generosity.
