2010 - 2019
Steps along the way...
-
• Celebrated ECA’s 50th anniversary with three days of events and meals, including music, plays and worship services with many prior Rectors and over 200 people (past and present parishioners)
• Celebrated our last year of our Montgomery Meals ministry that cooked and served warm meals to 150-250 people a month, totaling almost 100,000 meals over 35 years. Turkey meat (300-400 lbs) was prepared and frozen every Thanksgiving, then used in small amounts for the base of the warm meals along with vegetables, salad, and rolls
• Provided loving, active, and well-attended full week Kids camps, Vacation Bible Schools, School break day camps, and summer events that included children and parents from the neighborhood and ECA parishioners, with themes covering the Olympics, Environment, Adventure in the Arts for Children (music, painting, drama and culinary arts) and much more
• Established a day shelter for women in fragile condition and without homes, providing a loving, safe and secure environment to give them time, peace and the ability to seek medical help, places to live and jobs. (This was in affiliation with Village House a Non-profit organization that worked with over 20 churches to provide day and night shelters to these ladies)
• Celebrated our community through Fellowship activities, such as themed dinners, Saturday Fellowship and Worship including dinner, cooking classes, plays, and musical events
• Provided fund-raising activities to help those in need, SMUM, Almaden Valley Counseling Services and more, with activities, such as May Teas, a Pumpkin Patch, pies baked by youth and more, collecting thousands of dollars that were donated from each
• Established the Silicon Valley Sponsoring Committee to bring together like-minded Non-Profit Organizations to increase our voice in helping those in need (see Social and Racial Justice section on Website)
• Began conceptualizing a Church of the Future and establishing a joint approach with our partner church
• Continued with classes and Bible Study to help us grow individually and as a community
