Backyard Fellowship: Hike and Lunch (April 30, 2022)
Backyard Fellowship turned into a great day of sunshine, fresh air, an introduction to a neighborhood park, and plenty of time to catch up and visit with church friends. Seventeen parishioners joined in comradery for the day’s events.
Those up for a hike met up early and headed off to Guadalupe Oak Grove Park located in the Almaden Valley. Various lovely nature trails are spread across the flat land, but our group took up the challenge to scale the two steep hills the park offers. From each precipice we were treated to amazing views in all directions. We could see downtown San Jose and a beautiful view of the southern mountains where Mount Umunhum sits.
By the time noon rolled around, all the hikers and those just joining for lunch were gathered in the “Backyard” with their picnic lunches enjoying shade and a cool breeze. As the afternoon lingered on, many tried their hand at the corn hole game or on the putting green. There were even a few holes in one at both games!
Everyone is ready for another hike and picnic lunch again soon.
